When I say I limited myself, what I mean is I operated under the notion of 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it'. I've used social media before; Facebook. Since I had a way to post information for others to see, I never considered using Twitter as much as I've used it during this course. I enjoy having a means to communicate what I'm thinking and/or working on for others to see in hopes of them offering constructive feedback. Everybody has their preferences and so I've learned it is important to involve myself in as many ways to socialize, electronically, with others too.
In the long run I would like to teach mathematics at the high school level. Math has been my favourite subject since elementary school. Math can become boring when it revolves around writing numbers on a board and solving problems. This course had me investigate different websites that offer interesting visuals for students to looks at. I definitely want to incorporate this into a lesson because it may encourage students to want to learn more about the topic as opposed to a lesson that bombards the student with too much information. I used PowToon, which is very similar to Microsoft PowerPoint, which is a 'cartoony' way to show information.
What I will take from this course is encouraging students to step out of the comfort zone. That is what this course made me do, and in doing so, I've learned so much about technology. There are always new things popping up in the tech world and that can be interpreted as new things to learn. This course has prepared me for it and I think I am ready!
